Hard to Sum Up in a Sound Bite
When people ask me, "How was your Camino?" I don't have a simple answer. It was a multilayered experience that I'm still processing.
I spent more than two weeks walking over 225 miles across northern Spain on the Camino Primitivo, one of the ancient pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. For more than 1,200 years, pilgrims have walked these routes, originally for religious reasons. Today, people come for many purposes: reflection, healing, physical challenge, spiritual seeking, or simply the chance to step away from everyday life and reconnect with themselves.
2025 has been a hard year for the collective and also for me personally. I’m coming out of it more resilient and with a deeper understanding of what happiness truly is. I want to share with you a little about my journey delving into understanding happiness as I move into the next chapter: no children living at home and caretaking of elders taking up more space in my life.
Here's what I’ve been learning about happiness from the inside out.
In 2024, I completed two big passion projects: publishing the ADHD Success Planner and successfully completing Everesting 29029 on Stratton Mountain in Vermont. The facts, briefly.

Everywhere I turn, Buddhist philosophy and teachings are calling me. Through books I’m reading, podcasts I’m listening to, and the heroes I encounter. My trip to Upaya Zen Center in Santa Fe in April opened my eyes to the vastness of the learning to be explored.
I’m also aware of how much Buddhism has impacted my coaching practice, even though I wasn’t fully aware of the explicit connections. For instance, I emphasize the concept of equanimity with clients who struggle to control their emotions (see my blog post about how to have a good day below).
It may seem ironic that I’m writing about death as we are moving into Spring. In fact, the theme running through this newsletter is rebirth. I’m writing this after embarking on a yearlong course, Trauma-Informed Coaching and Consulting, that feels like the start of a transformative journey - more to be written as I continue to integrate!
