2020—The Good Parts

What a Year

We all experienced challenges like never before, but that makes the bright spots a little brighter, don't you think? In this craziest of years, I am more motivated than ever to continue my tradition of sharing some of my personal silver linings with you.

Fred Kofman

I had the enormous good fortune to interact with Fred Kofman this year via a coaching course, a couple of workshops and his extensive writings. His approach to personal development: values based; challenging our mental models, recognizing our agency in all situations, and being action-oriented resonates with me profoundly. I recommend Conscious Business, you won’t be disappointed.

Critical Conversations

Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg is not just a book, it’s a whole philosophy about how to have critical conversations; and how to express your feelings and needs in an empathetic and productive way. I approach conflict differently when I use this framework, and many of my clients have benefited from it too. I led a workshop for Chief on this topic earlier this year.

When We Band Together

I care deeply about the refugee crisis. When We Band Together has been working in the camps on Lesvos since 2015 to improve the everyday lives of the displaced. This year was a big one, WWBT built a community center for the refugees and hired its first full-time staff. My friends and WWBT co-founders, Zoe and Zander, deserve a shout out for their tenacity, grit and impact.

D-Nice

And special mention to D-Nice, DJ, emcee and producer. His positive outlook, his caring, his ability to deliver joy to all of us via his Club Quarantine dance parties…has been a gift that keeps on giving. Thank you for bringing music and dancing into my life during a year when it was so sorely needed.

I pride myself on having a positive outlook, but I will be happy to welcome 2021. Wishing us all health and healing this holiday season and beyond.
