My Gems of 2022

My Gems of 2022

Another interesting year. Here is my list of 2022 picks—a podcast, a TED talk, a book, and a bunch of powerful women business leaders.

Rich Roll Podcast

Rich has a powerful perspective—from addiction to endurance athletic feats, and now 10 years as a podcast host. His sonorous voice and thoughtful banter draw you into the conversation with ease. Episode #654 with Dr. Lisa Miller stuck to me like glue. Her ability to talk about spirituality through a lens that incorporates neuroscience, genetics and epidemiology opened up my thinking about humans and our capacity for spirituality. I have widely shared Episode #683 with Arthur C. Brooks across my network. The role of fluid and crystalized intelligence at different life stages resonates for so many trying to understand purpose and pursue happiness.

Can Art Change The World?

JR’s TED Talk was the highlight of TED 2022 for me. The beauty and power of art can help us connect to our humanity and form connections with one another, even inside a maximum-security prison. We all want to be seen and appreciated.

No Bad Parts

This book by Dr. Richard Schwartz is a primer on Internal Family Systems (IFS) a therapeutic approach for healing trauma and restoring people to wholeness. I had the great blessing to study with Dr. Schwartz at The Next Practice Institute (NPI), an annual event for leadership coaches hosted by Mobius Executive Leadership. It is no exaggeration to say that NPI was oxygen for my system. Learn more about IFS here.

Members of my Chief Core Group

I have the unbelievable privilege to facilitate several groups of female executives monthly. They are all members of Chief, whose mission is to drive women to the top and keep them there. I want to shout out these women who show up monthly ready to support each other, get vulnerable about their challenges, and dig deep into their leadership journeys. To say these women balance a lot is an understatement—demanding careers, family commitments, side hustles, volunteer work, community building and their own self-care—just to name a few.

Set Some Intentions

As we turn the corner into 2023, I urge you to set some beautiful intentions for next year. My article in Forbes will help you do just that.

“We are all just human beings.” That is my 2023 mantra. I am going to work harder at truly seeing others and appreciating them more.

May your 2023 bring you the right balance of growth and contentment.
